PLANNING: MAKING PROPS

Today in Media our group focused on the creation of one of our props that we are planning to use in the opening scene in our final piece. 'The Hound of the Baskerville' is the third of the four crime novels written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle featuring the detective Sherlock Holmes. We are using it to introduce the idea of a fear of dogs, which is something that is developed further in the piece. We brought an old Victorian book to represent the novel from 'Princess Alice Charity Shop' located in Esher as we wanted the book to display a rustic appeal, the old texture of the book will raise questions when viewing to where the book came from and if it holds supernatural needs.

We used 'Adobe Photoshop' to create a pastoral feel, we wanted the page to match the others in the book so using the font 'Brush Script MT' we recreated the font that is used in the book. We filtered the page to a dark cream colour to represent the age of the book to make it come across as more mysterious. We then sent the work to the printer so we could trim and stick into the book which can be seen in the final picture in our collage. 

From this we have developed our photoshop skills further enabling us to recreate the title page of our book. Making this has also pushed us further into the filming aspect of our piece as we can now shoot shots ad practice filming camera angles using the book. The task did not take us long as we were able to work together developing different things such as the colour of the page and font.
